The original
Legendary foam boards
Ask anyone who learned to surf in the last two decades what board they started on, and a lot of them will say ours. The Wavestorm Classic is manufactured around an expanded polystyrene (EPS) core with three stringers, wrapped in a soft Water Barrier Skin deck and a high-density HDPE slick bottom. Those materials are why it is light enough to carry, stiff enough to trim, and soft enough to land on.
We have spent years tuning that recipe rather than chasing trends. The outline stays wide, the rails stay round and the volume stays high, because those three things are what get people standing. Within that shape we keep improving the details: new deck graphics, a textured traction pad, bolt-thru fins that come off for the car ride.

Ride with a legend
Collabs
Some of the most famous names in music and pop culture wanted their own surfboard, so we built them one. Fender guitar finishes, Barbie Signature decks and a pink Hello Kitty longboard all ride on our proven 8ft shape.
Same soft deck, same 86 liters, same fins and leash in the box — just a lot more attention in the lineup.

Our sister brands share the workshop, the foam and the stoke. Bloo Tide and Storm Blade cover surf, Water Buddies covers the pool, and Artikfun and Sno-Storm take the foam to the snow.

great for kids and adults
Used for trip to Myrtle Beach and the waves there. Easy to jump on a ride some small waves in. Kids had a blast, and then I got one for myself. Kept me up and i was able to ride some in pretty far. Good quality, 3 years and counting if you keep it stored inside between trips.

Great quality, fun colors.
Reordered after the first one was accidentally left at the beach. A favorite of our kids for years. We like that it is different colors than many so easy to spot your kid in a crowd. Large enough that the grown ups can play sometimes too.

Fun, fast, light weight sleds
These are awesome for sledding!! They're light weight and easy to haul back up the hill and are nice and slick! Kids have so much fun with them. They've lasted us 2 seasons so far!

Teen daughter loves this board
Got this baby pink and white 8ft Wavestorm for my teenage daughter and she’s obsessed. Loves the color of the board with the light blue find and says the board feels really stable and easy to ride. Soft top is perfect while she’s still figuring things out. Highly recommend.

Well made and fun!
My boys used these boards on our latest beach trip. They played with them each day for hours and the boards still look brand new. My husband and teenage son liked them as well. The straps held up well and stay anchored to their wrists even against pretty large waves. I'd definitely recommend them!
Why a Wavestorm soft top is the board everyone starts on
Soft, high and wide — on purpose
A beginner surfboard has one job: get you to your feet. Our 8ft Classic does it with volume. At 86 liters it floats high in the water, which means you paddle faster, catch waves earlier and have a stable platform when you pop up. The soft foam deck and rounded rails mean a fall is a splash, not a bruise. That is why surf schools, rental huts and families keep a stack of Wavestorm boards on the sand.
Performance still matters. The three-stringer EPS core keeps the board straight instead of bending on a closeout, and the slick HDPE bottom gives it speed in weak summer waves. Plenty of experienced surfers keep a Wavestorm in the garage for small days, crowded beach breaks and for paddling out with their kids.
Materials we choose and why
Every board starts as expanded polystyrene foam molded around stringers. EPS is light and buoyant; the stringers give it a spine. On top goes our Water Barrier Skin with a UV-inhibiting graphic film, which keeps colours bright and stops the deck soaking up water. Underneath is high-density polyethylene, slick and hard-wearing. No hard resin shell means no sharp edges, and no wax is needed on the deck.
The same thinking runs through our bodyboards, skimboards and paddleboards. Bodyboards use a molded foam core with a contoured deck and channel bottom; the skimboard adds four fiberglass stringers for snap; the SUP hybrids stretch the foam to 9'6" and 10'6" so you can stand or sit and paddle.
Choosing your first board
If you are an adult up to about 200 pounds, start with the 8ft Classic. If you are a lighter teen or a child, the 7ft is easier to carry and turn. Already surfing and want something looser? Try the 5'6" fish. For the shore break, a 40in bodyboard suits most riders from youth to adult, and the 36in is sized for small kids.
Whatever you pick, the board arrives ready to surf: fins, leash and traction pad included. Leave it out of the sun between sessions, rinse off the salt, and it will be out there with you for years of fun.
Wavestorm FAQs
Sizes, wax, fins and what comes in the box.
Is a Wavestorm a good board for beginners?
Yes — that is what we designed it for. The 8ft Classic floats 86 liters, has a soft deck and rounded rails, and comes with fins and a leash, so a beginner can catch waves and stand up early without needing anything else.
Does a Wavestorm need wax?
No. The soft Water Barrier Skin deck grips bare skin and wetsuits, and the tail traction pad holds your back foot. If you want extra grip, a light coat of basecoat wax is fine, but most riders never use it.
Which size should I choose?
Adults up to about 200 lb: the 8ft Classic. Teens and lighter adults: the 7ft. Surfers ready for a looser board: the 5'6" fish. Kids on bodyboards: 36in; youth to adult: 40in; performance riders: the 42.5in Hypergon.
What comes in the box?
Surfboards include an ankle or leg leash, a set of removable fins and a traction pad. Bodyboards include a wrist leash on most models, and sleds come with a tow rope.
How do I care for a foam surfboard?
Rinse it with fresh water after the ocean, keep it out of hot cars and direct sun when you are not riding, and store it flat or in a board sock. Take the fins out for transport so they don't press into the foam.
